At this years Maker Faire the club will be turning wands (think Hogwarts and Harry Potter).
We will have a bunch of rough turned blanks (hence the request for everyone to turn blanks) and some pre-made wands that the kids can choose as wand designs they want! They will select a blank and design and one of the turners will turn it right then and there. It takes 8-10 minutes to turn a rough turned wand!
This will keep folks around the booth and more engaged. We also will be trying to get two spaces this year!
The length of the rough turned wand is about 12 inches long. We would like the round blank to be about 1-1/4 inches wide. And a tenon will be turned on one end. The tenon should be about 3/4 of an inch long and about 1 inch wide.
The Maker Faire will be held at Central Florida Expo Center & Fairgrounds 4603 W Colonial Dr, Orlando, FL 32808, November 4th & 5th, 2023. We will be looking for volunteers!
